A Festive Fusion of Lights, Fitness, and Giving: Logan Regional Medical Center Hosts Successful Reindeer Dash 5K at Chief Logan State Park
November 22, 2023
Chief Logan State Park sparkled with holiday magic as the community came together for a memorable Reindeer Dash 5K run amid the dazzling Christmas lights. This unique event, organized and sponsored by Logan Regional Medical Center, not only encouraged physical activity during the holiday season but also promoted the spirit of giving back to the community by requesting participants to bring canned foods for local food pantries in lieu of a traditional registration fee.
The Reindeer Dash 5K, held on November 18th, witnessed a remarkable turnout, with over 250 individuals of all ages joining the festive run through the enchanting light displays adorning Chief Logan State Park. Runners and walkers alike embraced the holiday spirit, donning festive attire, as they weaved through the illuminated trail.
Logan Regional Medical Center, committed to promoting community health and well-being, took a creative approach to emphasize the importance of staying healthy during the holiday season. By sponsoring and organizing the Reindeer Dash 5K, LRMC aimed to encourage physical activity in a fun and festive setting, all while supporting a noble cause.
In a community where there is such a high rate of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, etc., Logan Regional Medical Center is working tirelessly to make a difference and to improve the health of the community and the Reindeer Dash 5k is an example of that.
"We are thrilled to have been a part of this incredible event that seamlessly combined the joy of the holiday season, the benefits of staying active, and the importance of giving back to the community," said David Brash, CEO at Logan Regional Medical Center. "The Reindeer Dash 5K exemplifies our commitment to health and wellness, and we are proud to see the community come together for such a fantastic cause."
In the true spirit of the holidays, participants embraced the opportunity to make a difference by bringing canned foods to benefit the food pantry at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College. The generosity displayed by the runners and walkers demonstrated the power of community spirit and solidarity, making a positive impact on those in need.
"Events like the Reindeer Dash 5K highlight the creative ways we can emphasize the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, even during the festive season," Brash added. "We extend our gratitude to everyone who participated, volunteered, and supported this event, contributing to the well-being of our community."
Logan Regional Medical Center extends its heartfelt appreciation to all participants, sponsors, and volunteers who helped make this event possible. The success of the Reindeer Dash 5K reflects the community's commitment to fostering a sense of togetherness and supporting those facing food insecurity during the holidays. LRMC looks forward to continuing its commitment to community health and engaging in initiatives that promote well-being and charitable giving.
