Extraordinary ICU Nurse Recognized at Logan Regional Medical Center

Morgan Romero, RN of Logan Regional Medical Center was honored today with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Awarded to nurses at Logan Regional Medical Center throughout the year, the DAISY Award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s programs to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day.

The nomination submitted by one of Morgan’s patients read, “Morgan has been God sent. She has gone above & beyond and given me such great care. She is understanding and caring, kind, patient and takes a minute to talk to me so I don’t worry so much. She took an hour and a half to give me a bath and do my hair, she is a blessing to Logan Regional Medical Center.”

The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation is based in Glen Ellen, CA, and was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients.

Morgan is a Registered Nurse in the ICU and has worked for Logan Regional Medical Center since fall 2021 and was also a recipient of the Nurse of the Year Award-ICU for LRMC.

She is a fantastic nurse that always goes above and beyond for her patients by putting them and their needs first” said Jeanette Sexton, Chief Nursing Officer of Logan Regional Medical Center. “We are so proud of her and the work she does here, she is an asset to our hospital and community.”
