Holiday Cheer and Community Spirit Shine at Logan Regional Medical Center’s 2nd Annual Reindeer Dash 5K
November 26, 2024
Chief Logan State Park sparkled with holiday cheer as participants gathered for the 2nd Annual Reindeer Dash 5K, hosted by Logan Regional Medical Center (LRMC). This special event brought together 335 participants to kick off the holiday season with a memorable evening of fitness, giving, and festive magic.
The Reindeer Dash 5K, held on November 23rd, allowed runners and walkers of all ages to experience the beauty of the Christmas in the Park light display before its official opening on Thanksgiving night. Against the backdrop of twinkling lights, participants embraced the holiday spirit—many dressed in festive attire—as they navigated the illuminated trail.
More than just a run, the Reindeer Dash 5K embodies the true spirit of the season by giving back. Instead of a registration fee, participants were encouraged to bring canned goods and non-perishable food items, which were donated to Nighbert Memorial Methodist Church. These contributions will provide meals to local families in need this December, ensuring that no one in the community goes without during the holidays.
David Brash, CEO of Logan Regional Medical Center, shared his gratitude and excitement for the event: "This event is a beautiful reflection of what makes our community special—people coming together to celebrate, stay active, and support each other. The Reindeer Dash 5K is more than a race; it’s now a tradition that brings joy to our community. Thank you to everyone who made this event a success and for helping us kick off the holiday season in such a meaningful way."
The event highlighted the importance of physical activity during the holiday season while emphasizing LRMC’s commitment to improving community health. In a region that faces challenges with conditions like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease, events like the Reindeer Dash 5K underscore the hospital's dedication to fostering a healthier community through creative and engaging initiatives.
