Logan Regional Medical Center is proud to announce they were awarded Titanium distinction for their participation in the 2024 Hospital Challenge. The 2024 Donate Life West Virginia Challenge is an initiative of the Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA)'s Workplace Partnership for Life Campaign & Hospital Challenge. The competition encourages state hospitals to highlight the need for organ, eye, and tissue donors and ultimately register more West Virginians as donors.
Logan Regional Medical Center worked from January 1st - April 30th completing tasks to bring awareness to organ donation. A kickoff event was held in January followed by opportunities each month to register as a donor. The annual flag raising ceremony was held in April at the Life Services Center to bring awareness to organ donation and honor our staff that have been affected by organ donation. Every awareness event, radio ad, and Facebook post is recorded on a scorecard, and Logan Regional Medical Center was recognized at the second highest level - Platinum.
There was an awards luncheon held on August 29th at Stonewall Resort. Over 33 hospitals were recognized for their participation in the challenge. Attendees had the pleasure of listening to two speakers, Chelsea Johnson, sister of Charleston Police Department Patrol Officer and organ donor Cassie Johnson, and Nark Kumaravelan, a heart and kidney transplant recipient.
Right now, 500 West Virginians are awaiting a life-saving organ transplant. To learn more or to register as an organ donor, visit www.core.org.
