Logan Regional Medical Center Named to Newsweek’s 2025 Listing of ‘America’s Best-in-State Hospitals’
November 4, 2024
On October 23, Logan Regional Medical Center was named to Newsweek’s list of America’s Best-In-State Hospitals 2025. This prestigious award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry-ranking provider. Eight hospitals from the state of West Virginia made the list, which can currently be viewed on Newsweek’s website.
“This is wonderful news for our hospital and our community,” said David Brash, CEO of Logan Regional. “It is quite an honor and accomplishment to be rated among Newsweek’s ‘best-in-state’ hospitals, a recognition that likely would not occur without strong support from those we serve.
“I’m especially proud of our team of skilled and compassionate caregivers, whose dedication to the health and well-being of our patients and the community shows up again and again in the various surveys and metrics used to measure hospital performance. Making this listing is a well-deserved validation of their hard work.”
This year's rankings include facilities in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The rankings were compiled using quality metrics from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the AHA Annual Survey of Hospitals Database, a nationwide online survey among medical professionals, results from HCAHPS patient experience surveys and a voluntary PROMs (Patient-Reported Outcome Measures) implementation survey.
In addition to quality metrics and patient satisfaction, this year’s ranking introduces new features that include a greater emphasis on healthcare equity and accreditation data from The Joint Commission (TJC) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). These changes ensure the rankings reflect the most current data and healthcare trends.
“This year’s rankings celebrate the outstanding hospitals that are setting new standards for patient care and innovation. We’re proud to highlight the facilities making a meaningful impact in their communities by consistently delivering exceptional healthcare,” noted Josh Smith, Newsweek’s Director of Growth and Strategic Partnerships, in the company’s press release announcing the listing.
The Newsweek honor continues a string of positive developments at Logan Regional. Just last month, Logan Regional was awarded gold honors by the West Virginia Hospital Association’s quality program. In April, the hospital's advanced wound care center was honored as a Center of Distinction by Healogics, a recognition celebrating the Center's high patient satisfaction and clinical success in wound healing. In January, residents from the inaugural class of the rural general surgery residency were welcomed to the hospital to begin their rotations. This unique program in partnership with Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and the Marshall Health Consortium is the first of its kind in the nation separately accredited rural general surgery residency. Also in January, Logan Regional was awarded Advanced Primary Stroke Center Certification by The Joint Commission, and that same month it unveiled its renovated, state-of-the-art Primary Care Facility.
