Logan Regional Medical Center Publishes 2022 Community Benefit Report
July 10, 2023

Logan Regional Medical Center (LRMC) today published its community benefit and economic impact report for the 2022 calendar year. This yearly report outlines the many ways the hospital positively contributes to the southern West Virginia area and spotlights how it continues to support the health and well-being of those who live and work in the region.
“It is our privilege to serve our friends, family, and neighbors in the Logan area and to be entrusted with their care and well-being,” said David L. Brash, CEO of LRMC. “That privilege carries a significant responsibility, one we embrace each day as an essential provider of healthcare, a large employer, and an active community partner. Our work affords us the opportunity to make a positive impact on the surrounding communities, and the accomplishments listed in our community benefit report speak to that impact and the hard work and dedication of our remarkable team of providers, employees, partners, and volunteers.”
Logan Regional’s 2022 community benefit report highlights the hospital’s continued efforts to meet the growing healthcare needs of its communities through welcoming new providers, expanding service lines and continually investing in its facilities and healthcare technology. For example, in 2022, LRMC added six affiliated providers and made more than $2.3 million in capital improvements, including investments in a new DaVinci robotic-assisted surgery system, seven anesthesia machines, new vital sign monitors, ultrasound equipment, a nuclear medicine thyroid uptake system, a new sleep lab system, and HVAC improvements.
Additionally, LRMC provided more than $11 million in health services to those in need, demonstrating its continued commitment to ensuring everyone has access to care, regardless of their ability to pay.
Logan Regional is also devoted to creating environments where providers want to practice and employees want to work. In 2022, the hospital distributed more than $45 million in salaries, wages, and benefits for its approximately 700 employees, and contributed nearly $100,000 in professional development and tuition assistance so its employees have the opportunity to learn, grow and improve the care they provide their patients.
The report shares several examples of how LRMC is continually seeking ways to make a positive impact in the communities it serves, extending far beyond the physical walls of its facilities. Last year, the organization paid more than $6 million in provider, payroll, property, and sales taxes, displaying its commitment to fiscal responsibility in an effort to boost the area’s economic well-being. The hospital is also honored to have continued its support of local activities and organizations that contribute to the community, including Buffalo Creek Memorial Library, Chief Logan Recreation Center, Dignity Hospice of Southern WV, Logan County Chamber of Commerce, Logan County Firefighters’ Association, Recovery Group of Southern WV, Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College, The Aracoma Story, among others. This support also includes contributions to school and athletic programs in Logan, Man, Chapmanville, and Tug Valley.
“Most of our team members at LRMC not only work in the Logan area, but they also live here,” added Brash. “We are part of the broader community and work tirelessly to earn its support, not only by delivering high-quality, compassionate care but also in the many ways we give back ‒ whether that’s through reinvesting in our hospitals or supporting local organizations and initiatives that benefit the area.”
